Happy December, you amazing person! In the next couple of weeks we are going to give you a warm glimpse of the upcoming holiday season and cover a healthy dose of well-being topics that will help you better manage your stress and find the strength to let go of your qualms so you can finally feel the joy of the season. It might be hard, but trust me, it's not impossible. December doesn't have to always be a carbon copy of your previous years. You can break the cycle of the frantic rush to make everyone happy, anxieties often inflicted by the extra pressure you put on yourself and those of other people and our enemy - the self-sabotaging pity that only makes things worse. Remember, you have the power to decide if you want to succumb to the old patterns and fall into the trap of suffocating circumstances or break free and create the environment you want to be in. I trust that you'll make a great choice!

I know, I know, work always gets in the way, but if you could do something to help it - start early! Don't wait until the last minute to finish those projects, your body will thank you for saving it from the extra stress you are exposing it to by trying to cram everything into the last couple of days before Christmas Eve. And since we can't control everything in our lives, if you happen to be triple busy regardless of how well you planned, you can still find ways to stop it from darkening your mood and straining your relationships. Accept the presence of any problems and ignore the voice of doubt and negativity. Instead circle yourself with inspiration and positivity - a quote, a book, a quiet place, encouraging thoughts or anything that brings you calm and puts a smile on your face. December is one of the busiest months of the year with challenges and panic potentially looming around every corner. So make sure work does not stop you from soaking up every minute of happiness you deserve. First clear your task list and then don't forget to clear your head!

This one is my favorite! There are plenty of activities to try every season, but we barely find the time or the will to, because we are either way too attached to our existing habits or too cynical of what something so simple can bring us. Here is a challenge for you - make it your priority to try at least one winter activity each week throughout this month. It could be anything that your city or area offers - ice skating, a glass of mulled wine, joining a school's fundraiser, bake a (bad) batch of cinnamon cookies for your friends or why not even try carolling (I bet you'll come up with a dozen reasons why not, but for a moment please silence the voice of cynicism inside you!). A little bit of research or even one careful look around you can open up multiple opportunities that you probably pass by every day without really noticing them. Once you walk around your place with the curious eye of a tourist, you may stumble upon something new that you've somehow breezed through on your busy way to work. Just try it, you don't have to love it!

At the end of the year we often end up ruminating over our forgotten or half-completed New Year's resolutions. We start strong in January of every year and then slowly around the summer push the list to the junk drawers of our mind. Let this time be a bit different - don't overthink or blame yourself for your 'failed' resolutions, but take a moment to healthily reflect over the year - what you've achieved and what you've learned. Think of every event, regardless of how small it might feel to you that helped you grow. Note all the way you've bettered yourself and all those ways that brought you closer to accepting who you are. Then make another note to keep learning more, growing more and loving more.

Turn off your dear phone for a day (or two) and fully enjoy the quality time spent with your loved ones. They'll appreciate it, but so you will too. The same applies to those of you who will find themselves spending the holidays on a secluded trip, you'll be so much more able to sync with your environment and truly feel the momentum, not letting it slip away. Alone or with people, stay present by shutting down the noise in your head that usually comes in the form of questioning and worrying, thinking of problems you're trying to solve or planning for something in the future. Whatever the case is, immerse yourself into the moment and leave your worries for another day (preferably after the holidays).

'Tis the season of giving, but it doesn't have to be all about the presents. Start by giving thanks to your friends and family, significant other, your cat, the cashier and that one polite person who always holds the door for everyone trotting behind. Give time by helping a struggling co-worker or by volunteering for a cause. And most of all, don't miss an opportunity to give kindness - it doesn't cost a thing! This is the month when everything multiplies - the traffic and the minutes of commute, the stress and the grumpy crowds, the cold weather and the woollen layers. Yet somehow small everyday actions of kindness become a rarity. But don't do it because you have to, do it because you will make someone feel better and you will ultimately feel lighter. Kindness is contagious.
